La Flor Dominicana
There are very few families in the cigar industry who own their brand, grow their own tobacco, and run their own factory. Inéz and Litto Gómez are among the fortunate few. They have learned to become farmers to accomodate their cigar production using choice Piloto Cubana plants. Small, but robust this tobacco packs a lot of flavor. Hats off to the Gómez family.
In September of 2007, we received our first La Flor Dominicana delivery and all were carefully placed in a display case - one new brand with three lines and 33 new premium cigar sizes. Each line tastes uniquely differerent.
The three La Flor Dominicana brand lines we carry:
- Coronado – The spicy flavor on the lips and palate is from the Nicaraguan Rosado wrapper. These handmade Dominican cigars break the stereotype for body. They are full-bodied – a result of the blending of Dominican Piloto filler and the peppery Dominican Corojo binder.
- Ligero – Filler and binder on this masterfully blended line are estate grown Dominican Ligero from their farm and the outer leaf is Ecuadorian Sumatra. The result is a great line of medium-to-full bodied premium cigars.
- Double Ligero, aka Doble Ligero– Dominican filler and binder tobacco from the La Flor Dominicana fields are wrapped in dark, often oily, sun grown Ecuadorian wrappers. The result is a good marriage of full body and full flavor. Note: Their shaped Chisel cigars are not as strong as the parejos.
